Blond Ale from the Ardennes
Brasserie D’Achouffe is nestled in the rolling green hills in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes mountains, a location rumored to be the mystical home to the Chouffe gnomes. Founded in 1982, the specialty beers of Achouffe have gained acclaim and passionate loyalty in many countries worldwide.
In the late 70’s, Pierre Gobron and Christian Bauweraerts embarked on a quest to brew specialty beers unlike anything available at the time. On August 27th, 1982, the first batch of LA CHOUFFE was finished and, “Voilà!”. The beers of Achouffe are now available in more than 20 countries worldwide.
In mid-2006 Gobron and Bauweraerts chose to entrust the future of their dear gnomes to Duvel Moortgat, though the founders are still involved in brewery operations.
The flagship product is LA CHOUFFE: a hazy, golden-blonde ale with a distinctive flavor of fresh fruits and beguiling hoppiness. MCCHOUFFE is inspired by the potent and rich brews of Scotland. It boasts a complex sweet malt profile, a deep brown body, and notes of hop bitterness.
Brewed seasonally every year for winter is N’ICE CHOUFFE. Nearly a barleywine in character and strength (10% avb), it is brewed with thyme and curacao orange for a warming mix of mild spiciness and sweet fruit.
HOUBLON CHOUFFE Dobbelen IPA Triple was inspired by modern America IPA’s with assertive hope aromas and bitterness, backed by that unmistakable Chouffe yeasty sweetness, also encompassing characteristics of a fine Belgian Triple.
